Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions regarding product licensing.

Q:
A:
What is the definition of a Site License?

Definition of the word ‘Site’ refers to a specific location. This is not a synonym for world-wide or all encompassing. The site license is intended for one location only. We base this logic on a main office where majority of a customer’s employees work from. Most large companies have a primary location where the bulk of their employees are located. This is what a site license is intended for.

Subsidaries of a company are not included within the definition of a site license. Satellite locations are not intended with a site license. Multi-developer license options should be considered for these situations.

Sub-contractors are common for businesses. Whether they are a subsidiary of the registered company or an outside contractor is not relevant. A subsidiary may be covered under a multi-developer license only while that developer is working on a project for the direct benefit of the registered company, and only for the time the software is in use for the direct benefit of the registered company. The license is non-transferrable to the sub-contractor. The license may not be used by the sub-contractor for any other purpose than for the direct benefit of the registered owner.

The support and maintenance subscription gives you access to the latest product versions as they are released.  Our Visual C++ products include complete source code for all samples and library components.  Active-X products are distributed in binary format only, however, complete source code is included for all samples.  Help documentation is also included and you will always have access to technical support and the latest software updates, maintenance and enhancements.
Q:
A:
How long do I have to renew my subscription once it expires?

Our maintenance renewals run consecutively starting from the date your original maintenance expires. You may re-activate your subscription any time within 1 year of the expiration date at the renewal price. A renewal purchase will extend your subscription for 1 year from the date of expiration, and not the date of purchase.

Example 1: Maintenance expires 02-JAN-2024 and a renewal was purchased on or before 01-JAN-2024 will extend the subscription through 02-JAN-2025.

Example 2: Maintenance expires 02-JAN-2024 and a renewal was purchased anytime after 01-JAN-2024 will re-activate your maintenance and extend the subscription through 02-JAN-2025.
